Wartrace, TN

A hotspot for trains big and small, the Dixie Flyer is located trackside on CSX’s Midwest to Southeast mainline corridor in downtown Wartrace, Tennessee. Relax on our covered viewing deck as up to 25 trains a day roar through our village square.

Browse through our retail shop where you’ll find HO, O, and N scale model trains and accessories, railroadiana, books, antiques, collectibles and much more. There’s an operating HO and O gauge model railroad, snacks, and a comfortable lounge area for reading and conversation in our antique mall.

If you like backwoods short line railroading, the Walking Horse & Eastern RR, Tennessee’s oldest branch line (1852) joins the CSX mainline within camera range of our picnic table and viewing deck. Bring your camera for vintage diesel locomotives on the short line; then enjoy the parade of double stack intermodal, coal, grain, auto, and petroleum unit trains as well as scheduled merchandise hot shots.

Wartrace has a fascinating history that includes Civil War skirmishes and the birth of the Tennessee Walking Horse breed. Our stately Victorian homes and downtown commercial area are on the National Register of Historic Places.
